Hungary's Direct Selling Market Hits $170 Million as 324,000 Distributors Drive Sales
New figures compiled by Epixel MLM Software, drawing on WFDSA data and the Direct Selling Association of Hungary, put the country's annual direct selling turnover at $170 million in 2024. With a 91.8% internet penetration rate and a 9% corporate tax rate, the Central European market remains a testing ground for global and homegrown network marketing operators alike.

A mid-tier market with an outsized digital base
Hungary, a country of 10.07 million people occupying a strategic position in Central Europe, recorded $170 million in annual direct selling turnover in 2024, according to the World Federation of Direct Selling Associations' 2024 report. That volume was generated by more than 324,000 independent distributors operating in the country.
The market's penetration rate stands at 0.076%, which the WFDSA classifies as a medium level. Hungary's corporate tax rate of 9% is among the elements that shape the operating environment for companies establishing local entities.
Digital infrastructure is a notable feature of the market. Hungary counts 9.24 million active internet users, or 91.8% of the population, alongside roughly 7.29 million active social media users — a base that underpins the online recruitment and selling models now standard across the channel.
Globally, the direct selling industry posted $163.9 billion in turnover in 2024. Of the 104.3 million independent distributors worldwide, 72.1% are women.
